As leaders within the AI/ML community, we’ve been avid observers of the MAD (ML, AI & Data) landscape, closely tracking developments and insights from pioneers like Firstmark Capital. Over the past decade, we’ve witnessed an unprecedented surge in excitement and potential within this space.

The trends we’ve long anticipated are finally converging: data has undergone massive digitization, becoming more accessible than ever before. Thanks to modern tools, it can now be stored, processed, and analyzed swiftly and affordably. And perhaps most notably, ML/AI models have reached new heights of performance, enabling them to interpret data, identify patterns, and even generate content like text, code, images, and more.

What was once considered niche and technical has now become mainstream, reshaping industries and sparking discussions that transcend mere technological advancements. The implications of this paradigm shift extend far beyond our immediate concerns, impacting society, geopolitics, and the very essence of human existence.

Yet, despite these remarkable advancements, we recognize that there’s still much ground to cover in this ongoing journey. Each year presents new challenges and opportunities, and our role as community leaders is to help make sense of the current landscape, offering insights and guidance to our peers as we collectively navigate the evolving world of MAD.
