Maryam Farooq – Founder / Director

Maryam Farooq is a frequent speaker on how knowledge workers can leverage AI, and currently acts as an AI consultant and early-stage startup advisor. 

She currently serves as the Founder & Director for NYAI (New York Artificial Intelligence), and has been running AI events since 2016. NYAI partners with companies, communities, and conferences to showcase the latest, most interesting ideas in AI, ML, and data to their global AI community of 8K+.

She is the former Co-Founder and COO of Aggregate Intellect (ai.science), a generative AI startup and graduate of the 2023 Creative Destruction Lab Accelerator program. Previously, she served as the New York Managing Director and the Global Director of Client Experience (Business Development) for Machine Colony (now defunct), a company that worked with governments and large enterprises to help them adopt AI at scale. Prior to Machine Colony, Maryam worked for several tech start-ups focused on business development, product development, account management, and special projects. 

Maryam is passionate about supporting charitable organizations with a focus on education, and served on the board for the Foundation of Education in Honduras as the Development and Marketing Strategist. She has been a figure skating instructor for Figure Skating in Harlem, as well as a tutor for KIPP NYC. Maryam graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2011 with a B.A. in Economics. 
 
An animal lover, a native New Yorker, and she is deeply interested in understanding emerging technologies for social good, permaculture & sustainability design, traveling, and finding new ways to foster connections with fellow humans.
